Easy Crochet Leaves Backpack

Size: Approximatly 15 inches by 15 inches
You will need:
3 skeins Loops and Threads Impeccable (#4 worsted weight)
Color: Forest
Fiber: 100% Acrylic
Ball weight: 277yds/4.5oz/127.5g

Crochet hooks 4.5mm/7 and 5mm/H Scissors
Tapestry needles
2 Stitch Markers

3 metal 12mm Rings

Faux Leather Bag Pad/Shaper with holes approximately 10inches by 5 inches oval shaped. You will want it to have 70 holes. If you can’t find one with 70 holes no worries, you can always increase how ever many st you need for the first round of the pattern.
Stitches Used:
Sl st: slip stitch
Ch: chain
Sc: single crochet
Dc: double crochet
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet
BPDC: Back Post Double Crochet
FPDC2TOG: front post double crochet 2 together
BPDC2TOG: back post double crochet 2 together
FPSLST: Front Post Slip Stitch used to bring the ch to the front to mimic a FPDC

Instructions:

You will now take your pre pierced bottom. There are 2 sides, the wrong side which will be inside of your bags bottom, and the right side which is the part that will have the metal supports for resting on surfaces.

Now with the right side facing you at any hole you will join your yarn with the 4.5mm hook going through one of the holes, grab your yarn, bring loop back through the hole, yarn over hook and through the first loop making a sl st begin the Round as follows below.
Round 1: skip to the next hole you will make a sc, *sc in each st around, sc in the same sp as the first sl st you made to join your yarn, you will be picking up 70st total, sl st with the first sc.
You will now change to the 5mm/H Hook
Round 2: ch3 (counts as dc), dc in next 5 st, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 6 st, 2dc in next st* repeat from *to* around, sl st with the first dc (ch3). You will have 80 st
Round 3:​ Bring your st to the front to make your first FPDC, work your hook around the front of the post, grab the yarn and bring it back around the post, you will have 2 loops, pass the 2nd loop through the first, You have just done a FPSLST (front post slip stitch),
Ch3 (counts as FPDC), BPDC in next 3 st, *FPDC in next st, BPDC in next 3 st* repeat *to* around, sl st with the top of the ch3.
Round 4: FPSLST, ch3 (counts as FPDC), BPDC in next 3 st, *[FPDC, ch1, FPDC] around the FPDC from previous round, BPDC in next 3 st, FPDC, BPDC in next 3 st,* repeat from *to* around, sl st with the top of the ch3.
Round 5: FPSLST, ch3 (counts as FPDC), BPDC in next 3 st, *FPDC in FPDC from prev round, in ch sp make [dc, ch1, dc], FPDC in next FPDC, BPDC in next 3 st, FPDC in next FPDC, BPDC in next 3 st* repeat form *to* around, sl st with the top of the ch3.
Round 6: FPSLST, ch3 (counts as FPDC), BPDC in next 3, *FPDC in the next 2, in ch sp [dc, ch1, dc] FPDC in next 2, BPDC in next 3, FPDC in next FPDC, BPDC in next 3* repeat from *to* around, sl st with the top of the ch3.

The Flap

You will now find the middle stem of your back of your bag,
You will now count 3 stems to the left, Place a Marker on 3rd stem, and count 3 stems to the right, place a marker on 3rd stem.



You will no longer be working in the round but in Rows, with your yarn and 5mm/H hook join your yarn in the st marker on the right, it should be a FPDC.
Row 1: ch3 (counts as FPDC), BPDC in next 3, *[FPDC, ch1, FPDC] in next FPDC, BPDC in next 3, FPDC in next st, BPDC in next 3* repeat from *to* one more time, [FPDC, ch1, FPDC] in next FPDC, BPDC in next 3, FPDC in next, Turn your work.

The I Cords

You will now make an I Cord
With your yarn and 5 mm hook, take 1 ring and join your yarn, you will make 5 sc around the ring.
You will now switch to your 4.5mm hook,
Round 1: ​​ch1 in the BLO sc in each of the 5 sc, ch3, turn your work
Round 2: ​​Working in the BLO, sc in the first st (joining your ch to work in the round), sc in each st around BLO, 8 st place a st marker to mark the end and beginning of each new round.
Round 3: ​​sc in 3rd loop of your st from the previous round, you will not crochet in the BLO now but in the 3rd loop of the st, sc like that all around. ​​8st make sure to carry up your st marker as you go.
Round 4-to your desired length: ​​repeat Round 3.
Once you reach your desired length you will now begin the steps to attach the 2nd ring.

Round 3: ​​Grab your ring and you will now attach it by sc through the st and the ring you will work like that for the next 4 st. Fasten off and sew in all loose tails.
You will make your second strap starting from the first Ring and working the Rounds the same as you did the first one, Joining the 3rd ring. Making sure to make it the same length as the first one.
That’s it you are now ready to attach your Straps to your bag.

Attach the first Ring to the center of the Bag at the center of the flap and edge of the bag, Sc over several st to secure the ring.

Repeat Joining the same for the bottom Rings, Joining to the opposite sides of the back of the bag.
The I Cord for the Closure. Use the smaller hook and make an I Cord as you did above you will not attach the rings tho, Work a desired length fasten off, hide all loose tails. Weave the I cord through the st of the last Round of the bag Body.
