Easy Crochet Cocoon Cardigan 2020

    Glossary:
    Sl st: slip stitch
    Ch: chain
    Dc: double crochet
    FPDC: Front post double crochet
    BPDC: back post double crochet
    YO: Yarn over
    Puff St: *Yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull through st, Pull up a little to give it some slack* repeat from *to* 3 times, ch1 to end your st.
    Instructions:
    All Sizes:
    With your 8mm/L hook and yarn make a magic circle,
    Round 1: ch1, Puff st 8 times in the magic circle, sl st with the first puff st.
    Round 2: sl st in the first ch sp, 2 Puff st in ch sp, *in next ch sp 2 puff st in ch sp* Repeat from *to* around, sl st with the first puff st. 16 Puff st in total.
    Round 3: sl st in the first ch sp, [puff st, ch2, puff st] in ch sp, puff st in each of the next 3 ch sp, * in next ch sp [ puff st, ch2, puff st], puff st in each of the next 3 ch sp* repeat from *to* to end of round, sl st with first puff st.
    Round 4: sl st in the first ch2 sp, [puff st, ch2, puff st] in ch sp, puff st in each of the next 4 ch sp, * in next ch sp [ puff st, ch2, puff st], puff st in each of the next 4 ch sp* repeat from *to* to end of round, sl st with first puff st.
For Sizes Small -2X
Round 5-36: you will repeat Round 4. For each new Round you will be adding 1 extra Puff st in between the corners. Round 4 has 4, Round 5 there will be 5, 6 will have 6 so on and so on, until you reach Round 36, You will have 36 puff st in between the corner st.
Round 37: ch3 (counts as first dc), in ch 2 sp 3 dc, {* dc on top of the Puff st, dc in the ch sp, dc on top of the Puff st, 2dc in ch sp* repeat from *to* until you reach the next ch2 sp, 3dc in ch 2 sp} Repeat from {to} until you reach the first dc, sl st with the top of the ch3.
Fasten off and hide all loose tails on the wrong side of your work.
For Sizes 3X-5X
Round 5-40: you will repeat Round 4. For each new Round you will be adding 1 extra Puff st in between the corners. Round 4 has 4, Round 5 there will be 5, 6 will have 6 so on and so on, until you reach Round 36, You will have 36 puff st in between the corner st.
Round 41: ch3 (counts as first dc), in ch 2 sp 3 dc, {* dc on top of the Puff st, dc in the ch sp, dc on top of the Puff st, 2dc in ch sp* repeat from *to* until you reach the next ch2 sp, 3dc in ch 2 sp} Repeat from {to} until you reach the first dc, sl st with the top of the ch3.
Fasten off and hide all loose tails on the wrong side of your work.
Time to Fold and Sew:

Place your work, right side facing you and fold in half to have a rectangle.

See below for your measurements. With the short side you will now measure your Armhole opening for your size. Measuring from the fold down, place a stitch to hold both sides together, repeat for the other short side for the second armhole opening.

Once you have your work pinned you will now sew or sl st from the bottom Corner up to the st marker, you will start in the middle st of the corners, picking up the back loops of each side, either sew or sl st through these st, matching st to st, until you reach the st marker, fasten off and hide loose tails, repeat for the other side. Turn your work right side facing once you have seamed up your sides so it is back in the rectangle but right side facing now.
Grab the center of the long edge and pull it up, it is now shaped like a square, top and bottom points being the neck and bottom, and the side points are the arm openings.
 

The Border
You will now work a border around the body opening, With your yarn and 8mm/L hook, at one of the seams, join into a dc, but join around the post to begin a FPDC.

Round 1: ch3 (counts as first FPDC), *BPDC, FPDC* repeat from *to* all around until you reach the ch3, make sure to end your round with a BPDC, sl st with the top of the ch3.
Switch to the 6.5mm/K hook
Round 2-3: 
ch3 (counts as first FPDC), *BPDC, FPDC* repeat from *to* all around until you reach the
ch3, sl st with the top of the ch3.
Switch to the 6mm/J hook
Rounds 4-5: 
ch3 (counts as first FPDC), *BPDC, FPDC* repeat from *to* all around until you reach the
ch3, sl st with the top of the ch3. Fasten off and hide loose tails.

The Sleeves:

With your 6.5mm/K hook, join the same as you did for the Body Edging, around the post of the dc closest to the seam.
Round 1: ch3 (counts as FPDC), *BPDC, FPDC* repeat from *to* around until you have 42 (44, 44, 46, 46, 48, 48, 50) st total, sl st with the ch3.
Switch to 6mm/J hook
Round 2-8: 
ch3 (counts as FPDC), *BPDC, FPDC* repeat from *to* around, sl st with the ch3. Switch to 5.5mm/I hook
Round 9-11: 
ch3 (counts as FPDC), *BPDC, FPDC* repeat from *to* around, sl st with the ch3.
The sleeve falls about 3⁄4 length. If you want yours longer, work more rounds to your desired length. Just remember doing so you may need extra yarn.
