Skill level: Intermediate
Gauge: Worked in the Waffle Pattern 13 dc by 7 rows = 4 inches
Size: This sweater is made with a positive ease of 4.5 inches on either side. FInd your bust size below and make that size.
XSmall (bust 28-30), Small (bust size 32-34), Medium (bust size 36-38), Large (bust size 40-42), XL (bust size 44-46) , 2X (bust size 48-50)
You will need:
6 (7, 7, 9, 10, 12) skeins of Red Heart Soft (worsted weight #4) Color: Medium Blue
Fiber: 100% Acrylic
Ball weight: 5 oz/ 141g/ 256yds
Crochet hook 5.5mm/I Scissors
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers

Stitches Used:
Hdc: Half Double Crochet
Ch: Chain
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet
BPDC: Back Post Double Crochet
FPDC2TOG: Front Post Double Crochet two together (decrease) DC2TOG: Double Crochet two together (decrease)

Instructions:
Sizes are written as follows XSmall (Small, Medium, Large, XLarge, 2XLarge) You will work from the bottom up.
With your hook and yarn make a slip knot and chain 116 (128, 137, 149, 161, 182)
Row 1: in the 4th ch from hook make Dc (the 3 skipped ch count as dc) , dc in each ch across, you will have 114 (126, 135, 147, 159, 180) Turn you work
Row 2: (wrong side of your work) ch3 (counts as fpdc) skip that first dc under the ch3, FPDC in next st *dc in next, FPDC in next 2 st* repeat from *to* across your work, dc in the last st, turn your work.
Row 3: (right side of your work) ch3 (counts as fpdc), dc in next 2 st,, FPDC in next st, *dc in next 2 st, FPDC in next st* repeat from *to* across your work, turn your work.
Rows 4-43 (4-45, 4-45, 4-45, 4-47, 4-49): Repeat rows 2 & 3, ending with Row 3. DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
Your piece should fit from your under arm to about a little longer than mid thigh, if you want yours shorter or longer, increase or decrease by 2 rows. By making it longer you will use more yardage, so keep that into account.
Front Panels:


With your work right side facing you, from your left side of your work, count 21 (24, 27, 30, 33, 36) st place st marker in that st.

Row 1: (wrong side of your work) ch3 (counts as fpdc) skip that first dc under the ch3, FPDC in next st *dc in next, FPDC in next 2 st* repeat from *to* across your work until you reach the stitch marker, dc in the st maker st, turn your work.Row 2: (right side of your work) ch3 (counts as fpdc), dc in next 2 st,, FPDC in next st, *dc in next 2 st, FPDC in next st* repeat from *to* across your work, turn your work.
Rows 3-4 ( 3-6, 3-6, 3-8, 3-10, 3-12): Repeat Rows 1-2Row 5 (7, 7, 9, 11, 13): (Decrease Row) ch3 (counts as FPDC) skip that first dc under the ch3, FPDC2TOG *dc in next, FPDC in next 2 st* repeat from *to* across your work, turn your workRow 6 (8, 8, 10, 12, 14): Repeat Row 2

For all sizes repeat Rows 5-6 2 more times, you will have decreased a total of 3 st. 18 (21, 24, 26, 30, 33) st in total. FASTEN OFF.
For the other Panel counting from the right edge in 21 (24, 27, 30, 33, 36) place st marker in that st. You will join your yarn in the st that the stitch marker is in.
Row 1: (wrong side of your work) ch3 (counts as dc) skip that first dc under the ch3, FPDC in next 2 st *dc in next, FPDC in next 2 st* repeat from *to* across your work, dc in the last st and turn your work.Row 2: (right side of your work) ch3 (counts as fpdc), *dc in next 2 st, FPDC in next st* repeat from *to* across your work, turn your work.

Back Panel

With your work facing you you will count 6 (9, 9, 9, 9, 12) st in from each front panel place a stitch marker in that st on either side, see pic above.
With the wrong side of you work facing you you will join your yarn into the first st marker, it should be a dc from the previous row.
Row 1: (wrong side of your work) ch3 (counts as fpdc) skip that first dc under the ch3, FPDC in next st *dc in next, FPDC in next 2 st* repeat from *to* across your work until you reach the stitch marker, dc in the st maker st, turn your work.Row 2: (right side of your work) ch3 (counts as fpdc), DC2TOG, work in pattern until the last 3 st, DC2TOG, dc in last st, turn your work.
*NOTE* you will have to adjust for the Fist 2 st on the side you decrease, Work those 2 st then continue with the pattern, ex: you will decrease 2FPDC in one row, so that the next row will only be 1 FPDC, then pattern is worked normal.
Repeat Rows 1-2 for all sizes 9 more times, you will have decreased a total of 10 st, 50 (50, 53, 59, 63, 74) st in total left.
You will now work even in pattern without decreasing for 2 (4, 4, 6, 8, 10).
DO NOT fasten off and with your work right sides together you will now seam your shoulders, using a slip stitch and your hook or Fasten off and use a tapestry needle to sew it together.

SLEEVES:
With your work right side facing you, find a FPDC from the skipped st of your armhole opening. Join your yarn to it and continue below

Round 1: (right side of work) ch3 (counts as FPDC), dc in next 2 st, FPDC in next repeat that until you reach the side of the rows, you will work 3 st in pattern for every 2 rows, work in pattern until you reach the ch3, sl st with it and turn your work.

Round 2: (wrong side of work)​ ch3 (counts as FPDC), FPDC in next st, *dc in next st, FPDC in next 2 st* repeat from *to* around, sl st with the ch3, turn your work.
You will Repeat Rounds 1-2 until your sleeve is 14 (14 1⁄2, 14 1⁄2 , 15, 15, 15 1⁄2) inches in length or 2 1⁄2 inches less than desired length. Making sure to end with Round 2.

SLEEVE BORDER:
Round 1: 
ch1, hdc in each st around, sl st with the first st.
Round 2-5: Ch3 (counts as FPDC), FPDC in next 2 st, BPDC in next 3, *FPDC in next 3 st, BPDC in next 3 st* repeat from *to* around sl st with the top of the ch3. Fasten off and Repeat for other sleeve.
EDGING/BORDER:
With your yarn and hook join at the bottom corner of your work, you will ch1, hdc along the opening, up around the neck, back down the other edge opening, when you reach the bottom again 3hdc in corner st, hdc in each st along the bottom edge until you reach the next corner, 3 hdc in that corner and sl st with the first st you made.
You will no longer be crocheting a border around the entire cardigan, but you will work the next 4 rows along the side opening and neck edge.
Rows 1: ch3, *FPDC in next 3st, BPDC in next 3 st* repeat from *to* until you reach the bottom edge, Turn your work.
Row 2-4: ch3, Each size will be different, but you will work the next 3 rows the same, mirror what ever stitch is facing you, if its a BPDC, then work that same if its a FPDC facing you. Once you have finished all 4 rows fasten off and hide all loose tails and you are done my friends.
