Easy Crochet Monokini

You will need:

Tapestry Needle
Stitch marker

Stitches used:
Sc: Single crochet
Dc: double crochet
Sizes:
S/M (M/L, L/XL)

Yarn used to make swimwear is subject to harsh conditions. The combination of full sunlight, salt from the sea or chemicals from a pool and suntan lotion can result in a the yarn fading or leaching color and shrinking or stretching. Wet yarn will also be extremely heavy and this will alter the fit of the swimwear. Thick or heavyweight yarn will be bulky and uncomfortable to wear. Crochet cotton is a good yarn for knitting and crocheting swimwear and is available in many colors. Cotton with Spandex is even better.
Consider lining swimming suits. This will help to ensure that the swimsuit keeps its shape--and preserves its wearer's modesty.

Make a sample square before crocheting the pattern. Wash and dry the sample several times and check for shrinkage or stretch. Make any necessary adjustments to the pattern before starting.

If you need your cup size to be larger then you will continue to work like you have increasing in the ch2 sp every row until you have a size that fits your cup size.
Make another the same as your first but DO NOT fasten off.
Once you have your 2 triangle tops made now its time to finish up your Monokini.
With you hook and the top you left unfastened, ch5, now you will join your second top by sc in the bottom corner, you will sc along the bottom picking up 1 sc per row, making sure to remember the number of sc you do so that when you do the second cup it will have the same number of st, once you have sc across the first bottom half you will now make the strap for the back, ch120, sc in each ch until you reach the cup again, you will now work the edging of the top making a picot st, sc in the first st, ch3 *sl st in the base of the ch3, sl st in the next st, sc in the next st* Repeating from *to* along the top till you reach the point of the triangle top, make a ch of 120, sc in each ch back to the triangle top point, sl st in the top and continue with making your picot st [sc in the next st, ch3 sl st at the base of the ch3, sl st in the next st] repeat from [ to ] along the top over the ch5 and back up the next side to the triangle point, ch 120, sc in each ch back to the top, sl st in the top and repeat from [ to ] until you reach the bottom of the top, ch 120, sc in each st back to the top, sc in the bottom of the top 1sc per row (you will want to match the st from the other side so you will have the same number of st for each cup), sc in the 5ch, sl st with the first sc you made. Fasten off and hide all the loose tails on the wrong side of your work.
Assemble the top to the bottom:
Use the video at the 47:26 minute mark (https://youtu.be/_KySBoszi8M)
With a st marker and your top mark the middle st (3rd sc in the center of the top where the ch5 is), then mark the middle st of your bottom (the 3rd ch5 sp). You will work on the wrong side of your work facing

you, you will sl st from the middle to the left, then see how many st are left and start the right side from that point.
You will join your yarn and pick up the st closest to you from the front of your work and the furthest st from the back of your work, matching st for st you will sl st along the left side of your top, once you reach the last st of your bottom fasten off and count the left over st on the top.
You will now count that many st on the right side of your top and join ou yarn and start to assemble the second half of your bottom and top from that st. Fasten off and sew in all the loose tails.
Finish off the bottom:
Joining your yarn to the front at the last row of sc, you will ch 120, sc in each ch back to the bottom, you will now sc in each row along the front edge, crotch and back edge of your bottom, when you reach the back corner you will ch120, sc in each ch back to the bottom, sc in each sc across to the next corner, ch 120, sc in each ch back to the bottom, sc in each row along the back edge, crotch, and front edge, when you reach the last row of sc for the front, ch120 sc in each ch back to the bottom edge sl st and Fasten off, hide all loose tails. Thats it you are done. If you wish you can line your bottom and top.
Also, if you find that your middle section is not long enough, try adding a few more rows of Row 1 of the Lace part, which would be, ch5, *dc in top of the next dc, ch2* Repeat from *to* across, dc in the last dc.
