Vintage Up cycled Beach Bag Free Pattern

Vintage Up cycled Beach Bag Free Pattern

By AnnooCrochet Designs

This is a new version of My up cycled Beach Bag.
I am  such a poor sewer, and I had to find a way to create a beach Bag with lining, and no need for sewing !!! Mission Completed!
This adorable Bag only takes a simple Canvas Tote and simple crochet technique to achieve.
I will use different color Yarn for this Tutorial, but in fact I am sticking to one color per bag.

You will Need
A Canvas Tote 15 by 15 inches
A  Sharp Crochet or a whole puncher
Crochet hook 3.25mm
 Measuring tape
Tapestry needle
Cotton Yarn of your choice I used Martha Stewart Hemp in Red, white or Blue

Stitches used:
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet

 Pattern:

at the top of your tote measure a cm all along and mark with a pen

begin by sl st with your sharp crochet in the first dot on your right side,

sc all along trying not to crochet too tightly, or it will create an uneven border, sc all along both sides of your tote.

You will have 78 stitches.

Round 1: [sc, sk 3 st, ch4,] repeat all around

Round 2: ch4, [sc in round 1 ch4, ch4, ] repeat all around

You will continue crochet the "Round 2"  Pattern in the round,

it will look like so as you crochet

Eventually you will fold it down this way

continue working in the round until you have about  28 rounds, enough to reach the bottom of your Tote.

For the last Round, ch5 and sc in both sides loops together

Finish by ch3 and sc at the edge of your work

Sew in all lose tails

You could leave, your handles as it is, but I like to crochet around it, to make it a little more durable, and to give your Beach bag a more finished look

Handles:

sl st through the front right vase of your handle, sc in same space and in next space

You will sc Crochet around the Handle,

when your handle is completely covered with sc's, sl st to the base st of your handle, and Fasten off
Voila, repeat for the other handle, and you are done!!!

Time for a Beach Day!!!

  5. Super cute (and makes lining a bag so much easier!) but I'm amazed that you managed to crochet with yarn that large with the sharp crochet hook. The hook on mine is so small I can barely grab embroidery floss with it.
