Up-cycled Little Girls HeadBand Free Pattern

By AnnooCrochet Designs

Oh the Drama in the household!!!
My Five year old little princess lost the flower on her Favorite Headband....Big Crocodile Tears are rolling down her little cheeks, she is unconsolable...
Super Crochet Mom to the rescue, I am going to surprise her today with a brand new up-cycled headband, crossing my fingers that it will pass the princess test and be adopted as her new favorite.

You will Need:

An old Headband
A tapestry needle
A crochet Hook 3.25 mm
little bits of Worsted Weight Yarn, I used Cascade Yarn In Green, soft red and yellow
Fabri- Tac or any fabric Glue
a fun Button

Stitches used

ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
dc: double crochet
tr: trebble

Round 1:With yellow Color Yarn, in a magic ring, ch2,

join with a sl st to ch2

Round 2: in front loop only sc,

 [sk st, sc ch3,] 6times,

 join with first sc

fasten off
Round 3: with red Color yarn, in any ch3 sp, sl st,

[sc, 2hdc, dc, 2hdc, sc],

repeat in each ch3 sp, creating 6 petals,

join with sl st in first ch loop.

 Fasten off.
Round 4:  with Green Color Yarn, In any of the back loops left from Round 2,

sl st,

[sc, ch4, sk st] repeat 6 times,

join with first sl st

Round 5:  with flower facing you,

sl st in first ch4 sp,

[sc, hdc, dc, tr, (ch3 and sl st in base of ch3),, dc, hdc, sc]

repeat 6 times in each ch4 loops join with sl st in firt ch 4 loop  fasten off.

Now take your HeadBand, and your green color yarn

Make a knot around the right end of the headband

sc around the headband like so:

with your hook under the headband, yarn over,

through loop, you will have two loops on your crochet hook

Yarn over, through both loops, repeat these steps all around the headband.

See my  How to Video Tutorial for more help, it is the same concept as for crocheting around Handbag handles

sc all around, until your headband is completely covered and you can't see it's original color peaking through.

Take your fabric glue and put a dab of glue all around the end of your headband

Let it dry for about an hour

when dry cut the tails off.

In the mean time sew your button to the middle of your flower

sew all tails in

Take your flower and place in on the side of your headband and use your fabric glue to glue your flower on pressing firmly.

Let it dry for a few hours..

and Voila!!!!!!

Success!!!!!!!!!!<3 her smile is back!!!!!

  5. Great idea, thanks for taking the time to write and post this pattern
I had an idea that instead of glueing your lovely flower onto the headband you could attach a brooch pin so that you make lots of other flowers and then choose which flower you want to attach depending on your little lady's outfit. Or go completely mad and attach lots of flowers all over the headband. Just a little idea hope you don't mind. Thanks for sharing your pattern. Jules. : )

    1. What a Great Idea!!!!!!! Thanks Jules!!!

  6. Carmen Del Monte Beautiful Exactly what I wanted for my greatgrand nieces! Thank you. Sept.ll,2013
